Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 is a low price android mobile which was released in August, 2011. It was the first Samsung mobile with android at such a low price. When it was launched this mobile became so popular that Samsung earned really big money from this mobile. This android phone supports Android OS, v2.3.5 (Gingerbread). It was one of the fastest selling android phones because of its low price and good features. Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 supported only OS v2.3.5 Gingerbread which was not sufficient. Precautions

  • First of all you have to make sure that you have made a backup of your previous data in your mobile phone. Now you can start custom firmware to install and upgrade your android phone to IceCream Sandwich from Gingerbread.
  • Furthermore, make sure that you have USB driver installed so that your mobile can connect with the PC. Your mobile phone battery should be 80-85% charged.
  • Enable the USB debugging mode in order to connect your phone with PC. Now, let’s have a tutorial about how to upgrade.

Steps How To Upgrade Galaxy Young To Ice Cream Sandwich Custom ROM  

  • First of all download ICS Android 4.0.4 CM9 ROM for your Galaxy Y on your computer.
  • Connect your mobile with your computer through USB data cable.
  • Then after connecting with the computer copy the already downloaded ICS ROM.zip file to your mobile phone SD card. Keep in mind that you keep it in SD card and not in any other folder.
  • After this switch off your phone and remove the USB data cable.
  • Now press and hold the volume up key, home and power buttons altogether.
  • In ClockworkMod recovery, wipe off all your data.
  • Now you have to scroll down to “flash zip from SD card” and select it by pressing the power button.
  • Using the volume keys go to the ICS ROM zip file which you have copied in your SD card and select it. Then you will see the confirmation notice. Confirm the installation and the installation will start now.
After the installation completes, reboot your phone by selecting “reboot system now” from the recovery menu. The phone will begin to reboot now and perhaps it may take about 5 minutes.
